What is MAIA? MAIA is a private medical AI paired with a health record that you control. Your records and your AI live in one place, hosted by a group you choose and movable whenever you choose. Requests for your information are decided by rules you write; your AI can answer for you, and anything your rules don’t cover comes to you as a question.
Who runs it? MAIA is free, open-source software developed by Adrian Gropper, MD and collaborators as a public, volunteer-driven initiative. Everything is open for inspection:
- Try it: maia.agropper.xyz (see Try MAIA with your own health records)
- Source code: github.com/HIEofOne/self
- Security & privacy design: the white paper (PDF)
- Essays: Trustee on Substack
Why this forum exists. This forum is the single public place where patients, clinicians, and experts discuss MAIA as peers — readable by anyone without an account, searchable, and governed by one rule: no personal health information, ever (see the Guidelines). Substack essays will mirror here, one topic per post, so discussion stops fragmenting across comment threads.
Introduce yourself below — pseudonyms welcome. (One reminder: your forum, MAIA, and Substack logins are three separate accounts.)
